- Boom lifts: the data plate is on or near the turntable, positioned to be read from the ground control station.
- Scissor lifts: on the chassis, typically near the ladder or the ground controls.
- Other models: a serial plate is often on the left rear side of the frame. JLG also stamps the serial into the frame in case the plate is lost.
Finding the year
The JLG data plate lists the model, the serial number and the manufacturing date, so the build date on the plate is the most direct way to read the year. Unlike most earthmoving equipment, the serial does not encode the year in a single character.
