Where to find it
- Scissor lifts: the serial label is under the scissor stack. On machines built before 2011 you usually have to raise the platform a few feet to reach it. On newer machines the number is also stamped on the frame, so you can read it without raising the machine.
- Telehandlers: near the right front tire, or stamped on the frame on the vertical member near the tire. On some machines it is at the rear, inside the vertical riser.
Look for the data tag, which lists the model, serial number and other information.
How the serial works, and finding the year
Genie uses model-based serial formats where the prefix identifies the model series. Unlike the 17-character PINs used on most earthmoving equipment, Genie does not encode the model year in a single character of the serial. Instead, the year is determined by the serial-number range for that model, kept in Genie’s records, or by the build date shown on the data tag.
To confirm the year, read the manufacture date on the data tag, use Genie’s official serial-number lookup, or ask a Genie dealer.
