About & how it works

The verified history of any machine, done honestly.

MachVerity is a history and market-value check for heavy equipment, trucks and trailers. Type in a serial number, PIN or VIN and know what you’re really buying, before you wire the money.

Why it exists

Cars have Carfax. Heavy equipment has nothing like it. There’s no central place to check a used excavator, dozer, skid steer or work truck’s history, what it’s actually worth, or whether it has a lien on it or was reported stolen. So buyers pay tens of thousands of dollars on a handshake and a hunch.

MachVerity is the tool that should already exist: type in a machine’s serial or VIN and get a straight answer. What it is, what it’s worth, whether it has open recalls, and exactly how to check its title, liens and theft status before you buy.

How it works

1

Enter a serial, PIN or VIN

Off-road equipment has a serial number or PIN on its data plate. On-road trucks and trailers have a 17-character VIN. Type it in.

2

We identify it, for real

On-road VINs decode live against the U.S. government’s NHTSA database. Equipment PINs decode by the standard year code. We never invent a make or model we can’t actually confirm.

3

We value it from real sales

The market value comes from real comparable sales, each adjusted for year, hours and condition. If we don’t have enough verified sales yet, we tell you so, we never show a made-up number.

4

We help you verify the rest

Every report includes live safety recalls (NHTSA) and a due-diligence checklist, exactly how to confirm title, liens and theft through official sources before you hand over money.

What we stand for

Real data or nothing

We would rather show you an honest “not enough data yet” than a made-up number. Every value is backed by real sales. This is the whole point of MachVerity.

Free while we build

Every lookup, value estimate and contribution is free. Paid dealer tools come later, once the data runs deep enough to be genuinely worth it.

Community-powered

The best equipment data doesn’t sit in one place, so we’re building it. Anyone can add a real sale in 20 seconds, and it makes pricing more accurate for everyone.

Transparent

We tell you where every number comes from, and where to verify the things we don’t have yet, through the official sources.

Where the data comes from

We’re building this dataset in the open. Here’s exactly what powers a report today:

Vehicle identity & recalls
Live from NHTSA (U.S. Department of Transportation) for on-road VINs.
Equipment identity
Standard serial / PIN year decoding, plus manufacturer references as they’re verified.
Market value
Real comparable sales, public government auction results and sales contributed by people in the industry.
Title, lien & theft
While we build our own coverage, every report points you to the official sources: NMVTIS, NICB, UCC / PPSA lien filings, and the National Equipment Register.

Who’s behind it

MachVerity is built by an operator who spent years in trucking and transport, and got tired of buying used equipment blind. No history, no straight answer on value, no easy way to check for a lien or theft before handing over a cheque. This is the tool that should have existed on the other side of those deals.

It’s early, and it’s built in the open. If you find something wrong, tell us, and if you know what a machine sold for, adding it makes the whole thing better for the next buyer.

Run its serial or VIN before you pay. It’s free, and it takes a few seconds.
