Where to find it
On Hyundai excavators the serial number is usually on a silver riveted or glued plate inside or outside the operator’s cab. If you cannot find it there, check between the hydraulic arms near the boom cylinders for a plate or a stamped number, and look on the main frame. Confirm the plate matches any stamped number.
How the format works
Modern Hyundai machines carry a 17-character PIN built to the international VIN standard. On a standard 17-character PIN the tenth character encodes the model year, and the identification plate usually lists the year directly. Older machines used a shorter serial that does not encode the year the same way.
